Nigeria Defeats Cape Verde to Maintain Group C Lead, Air Peace Chairman to Fulfil N20m Promise Earlier Made

Despite widespread speculations, agitations, and fears among football lovers and fans in Nigeria, concerning the Cape Verde versus Nigeria match, scheduled to Tuesday September 7, team Super Eagles under Coach Gernot Rohr, has again made Nigeria proud with their 2 – 1 defeat of the host country, Cape Verde.

 

While Dylan Tavares put Cape Verde ahead of Nigeria with a 19 minutes into start time goal, Victor Osimhen found an equalizer 10 minutes after. Luckily, an own goal from Kenny Rocha Santos, gave Nigeria the most anticipated and desired win.

 

Although the host nation, Cape Verde, had a greater percentage of ball possession, Nigeria was still able to make some accurate passes that eventually led to an equalizer and then a win for the country.

 

Nigeria now leads Group C on 6 points ahead of Liberia with 3 points while Cape Verde and Central African Republic, CAR, have a point each to their credit.

 

Air Peace Boss, Allen Onyema, is then expected to fulfil the N20 million promise made to the Super Eagles if the team defeat the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde; a vow the Air Peace Chairman had earlier made on the social media page of the Super Eagles.

 

Onyema, while encouraging Nigerians to give their maximum support to Super Eagles, so that the team can gain a ticket ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, also said,

“If you (Super Eagles), win this match, I am going to give the team N20m on arrival. I’ll bring the cash and hand it over.”
