Eight Trailers Load Of Machetes Seized By Custom Officers In Lagos

As part of the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) anti smuggling activities, the Tin Can Island  command of the Service, has intercepted eight (8) trailer load of 206,000 pieces of machetes.

 

Tin Can Island Area Command Comptroller, Olakunle Oloyede, who broke the news on Wednesday, said,  the seized items (machetes) will not be released until the importer of the consignment comes with evidence or certificate pointing the Service to the end user(s).

 

Some other items seized by the Command include: 640 bales of used clothes, popularly called ‘okrika, akube, or bend down select’, 236,500 pieces of used shoes and 62,500 pieces of brand new ladies shoes; as well as 145 kg of Colorado (Indian hemp) said to be concealed in two units of Ridgeline trucks and two units of Toyota Corolla vehicles.

 

1,670,400 pieces of Chloroquine injection and 1,814,400 pieces of Novalgen injection, all with duty paid value of N1,048bn were also seized by the Command.
